About Ayurveda
A 5,000-year-old science of life, offering a holistic path to balance, vitality, and well-being.
THE SCIENCE OF LIFE
What is Ayurveda?
Ayurveda, often called the “Science of Life,” is one of the world’s oldest holistic healing systems. Originating in India over 5,000 years ago, it is based on the belief that health and wellness depend on a delicate balance between the mind, body, and spirit.
Rather than fighting disease, Ayurveda promotes good health through prevention, lifestyle practices, and natural therapies. It recognizes that each person is unique, and wellness approaches must be personalised to achieve true balance.

MIND-BODY CONSTITUTION
The Three Doshas
Every person has a unique combination of three fundamental energies that govern all physical and mental processes.
Vata
Air + Space
Composed of Air and Space. Governs movement, breathing, and circulation. Vata types tend to be creative, energetic, and quick-thinking. When imbalanced, they may experience anxiety, dry skin, or irregular digestion.
Pitta
Fire + Water
Composed of Fire and Water. Governs digestion, metabolism, and transformation. Pitta types are often focused, ambitious, and strong-willed. When imbalanced, they may experience inflammation, irritability, or heartburn.
Kapha
Earth + Water
Composed of Earth and Water. Governs structure, lubrication, and stability. Kapha types tend to be calm, loyal, and grounded. When imbalanced, they may experience weight gain, lethargy, or congestion.

NUTRITION
Ayurvedic Diet Basics
In Ayurveda, food is medicine. Dietary recommendations are personalised based on your Dosha, the season, and your current state of balance. Core principles include:
-
Eating according to your constitution — each Dosha type thrives on different foods, tastes, and temperatures.
-
Favouring warm, freshly cooked foods — which are easier to digest and nourish the body more effectively.
-
Eating the largest meal at midday — when digestion (Agni) is strongest, aligned with the sun’s peak.
-
Using the six tastes — sweet, sour, salty, pungent, bitter, and astringent — for balanced, satisfying meals.
